Healthy Heart Presentation by the U.T. Nursing students
The eleven University of Texas School of Nursing Community Health Students are all in their last semester of Nursing School. During their Community Health Clinical, under the direction of Clinical Instructor Anne Helton, the Students are learning community assessment skills by assessing community demographics, strengths,health risks and health needs in the zip code surrounding Amazing Place. Their clinical time is also spent with the Amazing Place Participants providing educational programs, such as the Healthy Heart Program for Valentines’ Day,2011; assisting with program activities and nursing assessments; listening to Participants’ life stories and offering emotional support and encouragement. The UT Students are developing a Home Safety Assessment Program for Caregivers and Participants which will be presented to Staff at the end of the semester.
